[The screen fizzles on, all to show Umi leaning over a rail, yelling something off screen.]

Stop going so far! You think you won't get pulled out to sea?!

[Apparently she planned to talk to the viewer, but the unseen swimmer distracted her. So it takes a second before she looks to the screen again.]

Hi. I'm mostly doing this to tell Hikaru I'm in the city called "Cherrygrove", and I want to know if you're close yet. If not, I'm tired of sitting still, so I'll meet you on the road.

-but I wanted to ask just, anybody.

[While talking, she's sat down on a bench, right between a pair of eggs - both a light blue with white markings. But the colortones differ, and Umi pointedly leans away from the one making a ":)" with the white.]

How many of these Pokémon do you keep? Do you take them all into battles and make them all strong? Or do you pick and choose the ones you work with? And, the eggs. How many of these do you hatch and raise at once?

I have enough troubles with one, but if I need to keep more, I have these to work with. But still

[...and she's noticed her Piplup has swum too far, so sorry for the sudden lost-patience noise and abrupt call end.

For those who happen to pass her by in person, though, they'll get a treat of Umi trying to coax her penguin, and sweet talk her to shore. And failing miserably.]

Oh, so they really aren't happy when they're left in their balls...

What about that storage system? The nurse at that center said I can keep my extra Pokémon in a computer system there. Is that worse?

Both the pokéballs and the storage system are the same, some pokémon are fine with it, and some are not.

They are very obvious about their likes and dislikes, so you'll probably notice right away. But of course, you cannot build a trust relationship with a pokémon who is always in storage, can you?

Mutual trust with your pokémon is very important in order to achieve anything in this place.

...then I'm going to have a problem, if all mine end up like Penguin.

We can only have six out, right?

That's right, but you can trade them with the one in the storage whenever you need to.

Do you have a difficult pokémon, miss?

[Here, she'll turn the feed onto the water, and show her Piplup. And there's nothing too obvious to explain the exasperation, but.]

Come on, penguin! It's time for lunch!

[And, instead of paddling over, it blows some bubbles Umi has to dodge, and dives underwater.]

A-are you all right?

[There's some moments of jerky camera feed - and unintelligible noise - before she's back on, ducking by the water.]

I'm fine! But how do I get her to stop...?! She'll out swim me if I go after her!

Do you have anything you can use to lure her back?

-not unless she gets hungry again. And I'd have to leave to get the food.

That doesn't sound too well... Isn't there anything else she likes?

...it's a long shot, but. She has been anxious about the eggs hatching...

Perhaps if I pretend...

It's worth a try... Penguin!! The egg- It's moving!!

[Oop, she's looking! And swimming this way...]

Try to catch her when she's distracted...

[Just watching, there isn't much Lion can do, but hey.]

You don't have to tell me twice-

[And so she waits, waits for the penguin to come on land, waddle up to the egg....

And start a slippery struggle as Umi tries picking her up.]

Oh no you don't!

[Enjoy the erratic swinging view, Lion.]

[Lion watches the struggle for a moment, before speaking up.]

Wouldn't it be better to try using the pokéball...?

[Just... Saying.]

[Umi straightens up with her arms waffling a struggling penguin close.]

-she doesn't stay in it, anyways!

[Translation: Piplup doesn't like it and she prefers not to force it.]

Do you have any idea of what is causing this?

Not a clue. She started out this way.

Was she your first pokémon?

My only one- until these eggs think to hatch.
